“Tupa” is a communal kitchen / living room space in traditional Finnish farm houses. In our work it represents a meeting point of the different characters and narratives that constantly arrive and depart. We aim to allow the “basement” of our subconscious to reveal itself without filtering the immediacy of our imagination. Giving permission for the words to fall through. As the result of us three coming together Finnish language has become an important source of inspiration for the piece. It is a point of reference in relation to each other, in relation to our shared heritage and in relation to our togetherness in the space. Through our common background and interest in working with the combination of text and movement, we organically found their way to meet in studio to build a shared practice. Fascinated by the process a desire for performing and creating a piece together emerged.
