LIVEN – Martina Garbelli & Annukka Hirvonen
Two women. A space. The wind. A dialogue. How do these elements co-exist and influence each other? The wind with its dynamics became through our process a metaphor for what moves us and what prevents us from moving in our lives.
liven – make or become more lively or more interesting, to put life into, rouse, enliven, cheer
tuuli (wind in Finnish)
vento (wind in Italian)
The collaboration of Martina Garbelli (IT) and Annukka Hirvonen (FIN) started in 2014 in Berlin out of curiosity for finding a common artistic language and creating work together. Fascinated by physical tasks and exploration of movement qualities the research brought them to investigate questions about relating to others and to the world: When do you consciously choose your direction in life and when do you allow yourself to be led by the unknown? To what kinds of pathways do these two possibilities lead you? How do you control others and allow yourself to be controlled? How do you follow your individual flow while still staying with the other? What happens in those fleeting moments, when the flow catches you both into the same direction? Is there a possibility for balanced listening between two individuals without one in a leading role?
